About StreamSight

Our Story

StreamSight was born from a simple frustration — the uncertainty of what Alberta’s rivers actually look like before you get there. Every angler knows the gamble: driving hours to find blown-out water or low visibility after a storm. In 2024, that frustration turned into a mission — to make Alberta’s rivers visible in real time.

What started as a small personal project has grown into a network of live monitoring sites across the province. From the Clearwater to the Red Deer, and now to the remote waters of the Ram and Livingstone systems, StreamSight captures Alberta’s rivers as they are — honest, unfiltered, and available to everyone.

Our Purpose

We believe that connection to water goes beyond fishing. It’s about awareness, stewardship, and accessibility. By giving people reliable, real-world views of Alberta’s rivers, we help them make better decisions — whether they’re planning a weekend trip, monitoring conditions for safety, or simply staying connected to the places they love.

Our goal is to bridge technology and the outdoors — combining innovation with respect for the wild spaces that make Alberta unique.

The Journey So Far

  • 14 cameras deployed across Alberta rivers

  • 5,600+ kilometers traveled installing, maintaining, and rescuing gear

  • 90% average uptime through one of the province’s most unpredictable climates

  • 30+ members supporting the mission in its first full season

  • 100% independent — built, funded, and managed by people who live this life

  • What began as a one-person experiment has become a growing community of anglers, outdoor enthusiasts, and conservation-minded individuals who believe in transparency and connection.

Our Vision

StreamSight is more than a camera network — it’s the foundation for a larger goal: to create a living, breathing map of Alberta’s rivers that connects people to nature in real time.
As new technologies emerge, our mission remains the same — to lead with integrity, deliver reliable information, and set the standard for how digital tools can enhance our connection to the outdoors.

Looking Ahead

We’re only at the beginning. The next phase of StreamSight will expand coverage, improve accessibility, and explore new ways to share the story of Alberta’s rivers — responsibly, sustainably, and beautifully.

For those who’ve supported us so far — thank you. You’re helping shape something that will outlast any single season.
