Calgary & Bow River

Sunny skies with a high of 24°C expected in Calgary today. Afternoon temperatures stay steady with some cloud cover moving in late evening.

Flows in the Bow remain seasonally average with good clarity observed. Streamer action has been decent during low-light periods, with

fish rising sporadically near deep seams. Watch for midges and potential PMD emergences as we head into the week.

Crowsnest Pass Region

Crowsnest Pass is starting cool at 6°C and will warm to 21°C under mostly sunny skies. A brief chance of showers around 1pm is not expected to impact conditions significantly. Flows are stable, and water clarity is excellent. Caddis and March Browns are still present, with Yellow Sallies and Golden Stones becoming more active. Dry-dropper rigs are producing well in riffles and tailouts.

 Waterton & Castle Region

Waterton and Castle River areas will see daytime highs in the 23-24°C range but expect scattered afternoon thunderstorms after 2pm.

Flows on both rivers are trending downward and within normal range, with improving clarity. Castle Rivers water level is dropping steadily.

Waterton is showing a solid pulse of insect activity. Golden Stones and Caddis are the main event. Streamer fishing may be productive before the storms roll in.

Nordegg & Ram Rivers

A gorgeous day around Nordegg with temps reaching 23°C. The Ram River near the mouth shows a notable drop in flows and a rebound in water levels, good signs for fishability.

The North Ram is following a similar trend. Water clarity is improving. Watch for Golden Stones (nymphs will probably be the play) and Caddis in abundance.

The Blackstone is in great early season form, little color to the water which typically makes for great streamer days. Golden Stones drifted near the bottom should also get some love as well.

Sheep & Highwood Rivers

Both the Sheep and Highwood are dropping out of runoff and shaping up well. Weather around Longview shows early sun with potential thunderstorms by mid-afternoon.

Flows are within seasonal norms and receding steadily. Golden Stones are active, and anglers should be prepared with Yellow Stimulators or Chubby Chernobyl’s.

Dry-dropper setups are ideal. PMDs and small caddis are starting to show.

Clearwater River Hazard Notice

A cautionary note for anyone floating the Clearwater River from Angle Road downstream: Approximately 3 km from the launch, there is a tree spanning the river from river left.

At current flows, boats can be walked around the obstruction, but this may not be possible if water levels rise. Please exercise caution and assess conditions before proceeding.
